Homebrew Wendigo Species Details

PAST AND PRESENT

A once infamous monster of death, the Wendigo is a powerful creature. They are known to eat human flesh and as such are feared among the many lands. They are a manifestation of greed and anger. However they are sometime more peaceful, they don't need to eat humans for there is over meat around. But their previous instincts are obvious in battle.

Created from demons they were first created to kill the unwary. There's only one generation of Wendigos because they do not expire. However they are often hunted for the fear of murder.

They tend to live in the wild and follow passers by. If they are peaceful the followed person will be protected but if they are aggressive they are hunted and killed. Sometimes they will use their targets to follow their bidding before being killed.

THE 2 GENERATIONS

There are 2 generations of Wendigo; Young and Ancient. Young were likely born in the over world and are usually friendly. They were built by the other god(s) to combat the ancient generation. The ancient were built by the demons to wreck havoc on the world. Eventually they became a direct threat to the gods themselves and the demons who made them. Ancient Wendigos are almost always Chaotic Evil whilst Young are often Lawful Neutral.

Young Wendigos are the automatic arch Nemesis of the Ancient Wendigos. They is a limited number of Ancient Wendigos so they tend to not to confront the Young.

THE BATTLE FIELD

Wendigos are very strange on the battlefield. They all have their own style but tend to follow a broad umbrella term. In their eyes if they fall unconscious/incapacitated or die it's a loss, if the others do it's a win. They do not believe in draws or stalemates and will likely sacrifice themselves to avoid it.

<strong><span style="color: #800000;">RUSH<br></span></strong>
Aggresive and enraged they will rush towards their prey. This combat type is common in Barbarians, Fighters, Paladins and Monks. They do not do much to weaken their prey (Such as tying them up, Confusing or damage them from afar) but they will if they feel that they will lose else. Rush Wendigos should not be considered not tactical because they are, they just believe that tactics should be made on the fly.

HUNT

Quiet and patient these beasts will stalk their prey one by one. This combat type is common in Rangers, Rogues, Druids and sometimes Wizards. They are very procedural with their targets. Often a target will be killed over multiple turns but will be killed/subdued silently.  Hunt Wendigos are very famous. Many people think that all wendigos are hunters. Wendigos were originally Hunters because they were designed to kill people without being hurt.

MENTAL

Persuasive and mysterious Mental wendigos are a sight to behold. Clerics, Wizards, Sorcerers and Warlocks are often Mental fighters. Mental Wendigos often try to talk before fighting. It isn't that they dislike combat, they just feel like it's much less problematic to convince mentally then physically. They use magic and trickery to convince their prey of their goal. They favour terrifying victims because there's a lot you can do with someone who can't think straight. Mental Wendigos are very recent in comparison to Rush and Hunt wendigos.
