Homebrew Axolandl Species Details

Axolandls are inherently aggressive and intelligent like their draconic ancestors, but are widely considered cute because of their size and similarity to axolotls, and they hate it. They are proud of the fact they are related to dragons, and remind people of that whenever they introduce themselves.

Axolandls live in communities, no ruling government over them, just the residents. The community acts as a sort of democracy, making decisions via vote. Basically, what happens to one part of a community, the entire community will get involved. Because of this, these communities are very self sufficient, but work best when they are small. 

Typically, Axolandls will wear a form cloak or robes, depending on how wealthy they are, and use this as a sign of power. The reason they wear only these normally is one, because their tails won't fit in pants, and two, most Axolandls seen on land are very powerful in magic.

Axolandls, only being able to breathe in air for about half an hour at a time before they begin to suffocate. Therefore, a very large portion of Axolandls know at least a little bit of magic. Their magic is used to create a form of water bubble around their heads that help them to breathe on land. However, some Axolandls pursue alchemy instead of magic, and create contraptions that help them breathe the air as if it were water, allowing them to speak normally. But, few can afford to buy or create such a contraption.

Axolandls, due to the fact of growing up in water, are unable to speak common, because their throats are not attuned to speak it, but they understand it just fine. However, they are able to speak draconic perfectly due to this.

Axolandls also have a form of honor code, or rule of thumb is more appropriate, that has two major points: respect for those who are draconic, and loyalty to those you really trust. Because of this, Axolandls have very close friends or allies, typically draconic but can be other races as well.

Axolandls have two names; their birth name, given to them by their parents, and their community name.

Birth names: Clarenrh, Lilith, Snape, Drakc, Draketh, etc.

Community names: the Abyss, Lake Shire, Riverdalis, Lagoon, and the Reef

Axolandl are very aggressive by nature, as well as intelligent and typically know atleast a little magic.

Because you have gills, you can breathe in water like breathing air. 

Magic Training

You are trained in the magic arts enough to cast a few spells and breathe outside of water. Because of this, you are able to control some elements of water to your benefit.

Dragon born

You are unable to speak normal common, but are able to understand it. You are able to speak draconic and undercommon. Due to your likeness to an Axolotl and draconic ancestry, you naturally speak Draconic and Under common, the language of the Under dark.
