Homebrew Cat Sith Species Details

Isn't that a cute little kitty wearing that little pointy hat?

Eons ago the mysterious Cat Lord, creator of all cats throughout the multiverse, created a paradise for his favored feline friends to live in. In this plane that eventually became known as Catlantis, the felines there eventually learned to walk on two legs and form societies much like that throughout the rest of the Prime Material Plane. While these purrrsons wondered whatever happened to the Cat Lord they needed only to look to the Feywild to see what else he had been up to.

The Catwyld

The Cat Lord had originally left a colony of cats within the land of faeries, the Feywild, in a region adjacent to where Catlantis would form. After generations of being exposed to the chaotic energies of the Feywild, and occasionally being adopted as pets by the eladrin, these cats became like their Catlantis counterparts in being able to walk on two legs and speak. However, the energies of the Feywild gave these mischievous purrrsons the ability to turn into eladrin-like forms to better play tricks upon hapless travellers. This region of the Feywild eventually became known as the Catwyld.

Purrrsona

The cat sith form a unique relationship with their relatives who live within Catlantis. Similar to the relationship between the eladrin and their cousins, the elves, the cat sith are the still-living "ancestors" of the purrsons of Catlantis. To a human travelling within Catlantis, the purrsons may appear very catty in nature. However, to a human travelling in the Feywild the cat sith are exceptionally so. One moment a cat sith may want its belly rubbed only to quickly bat and claw at the person who was showing it affection.

The cat sith have also gained a unique ability to transform themselves into a humanoid form, appearing as a cat-like version of the eladrin with fuzzy ears, short fur on their bodies, short claws, and cat-like eyes. Even to an eladrin or an elf they may appear to be one of their kind in extraordinary makeup, until the cat sith returns back to its feline form after playing an elaborate prank on them.

Cat Sith Names

The cat sith typically have names similar to the eladrin and elves who live within the Feywild or of the purrrsons who live within Catlantis.

Names: Adran, Beiro, Fluffy, Mittens, Patches, Tibbles, Syllin, Vandia

Cat Sith Traits

Your cat sith character has the following traits.

Ability Score Increase

Your Charisma score increases by 2, and your Dexterity score increases by 1.

Darkvision

Accustomed to twilit forests and the night sky, you have superior vision in dark and dim conditions. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can’t discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.

Age

Cat sith mature at the same rate as humans and purrrsons but live much longer lives — typically 900 years or longer.

Alignment

Being creatures native to the Feywild, cat sith gravitate towards chaotic alignments.

Size

In their humanoid forms, cat sith average between 5 to 6 feet in height, with a slender build. Your size is Medium.

In their cat form, cat sith average between 15 and 20 inches in height while walking on their back feet, not including their tails. Your size is Tiny.

Speed

Your base walking speed is 30 feet and you have a climb speed of 20 feet.

Cat Form

As an action, you can magically polymorph to or from a humanoid form and into a tiny cat. When you polymorph all your stats remain the same with the exception of your size, and your equipment melds into your body, drops onto the ground, or remains on your new form if it is capable of wearing it. You revert back to your humanoid form if you die outside of Catlantis or the Catwyld, and any cat-sized equipment that has melded into your body reappears in an empty space next to you. The opposite is true if you die within Catlantis or the Catwyld, your humanoid-sized equipment reappearing in an empty space next to you.

Outside of Catlantis, you appear as a normal cat, albeit one with exceptionally long ears. If you rouse suspicion, or if a wary creature suspects something is amiss, you have advantage on any Charisma (Deception) check you make to avoid detection.

Feline Senses

You have proficiency with the Perception skill.

Fey

Being a native to the Feywild, your creature type is Fey. You have advantage on saving throws against being charmed, and magic can’t put you to sleep.

Languages

You can speak, read, and write Common, Sylvan, and Cat.
