Homebrew Yuan-Ti Halfblood (Human parent) Species Details

Often shunned or killed outright upon discovery, Yuan-Ti Halfbloods are the result of a union between a human and a Yuan-Ti, usually a Pureblood, though Malisons and Abominations have been known to take human mates when the situation called for it, and rarely, Anathemas have also spawned Halfbloods. The main difference between Yuan-Ti Purebloods and Yuan-Ti Halfbloods is that Halfbloods experience a wide range and varying depths of emotions, though they may not always have an understanding of said emotions, especially if they live their entire lives amongst Yuan-Ti.  Most Yuan-Ti consider Halfbloods to be "Meat", at best, and will go out of their way to expose any that may dwell within their villages, often resulting in an entire clutch being brutally and efficiently wiped out. Those who survive the cullings are either regarded with the same level of respect as the average Pureblood, or they escape and spend the rest of their days in fear of being hunted down by their Yuan-Ti brethren.  

Amongst humans, Yuan-Ti Halfbloods have a slightly easier time of things, though stigma often leads them to be ostracized if they are discovered, and may lead to the Halfblood leaving a settlement as quietly as possible in the hopes of, again, not being hunted down. On occasion, a Halfblood will find acceptance within a community, especially those where many races come together. In larger cities, one might find a Halfblood working in an apothecary, or an herbalist's shop, though other professions can also have the occasional Halfblood present.  

Halfbloods often resemble their Yuan-Ti parent more strongly, with visible scales and serpent-like eyes as well as a forked tongue and fangs, though it is not uncommon for one to appear human, though a bit unsettling for some undiscernible reason. Those who display no outward sign of being Halfblood are often able to easily integrate into human society, which can make them especially effective as assassins, if they are of that inclination, though most would rather not draw attention to themselves, especially if they have fled their original home amongst Yuan-Ti.

Ability Score Increase

Your Dexterity score increases by 2, and two other ability scores of your choice increase by 1.

Age

Halfbloods mature at the same rate as humans and their lifespans are similar to their human parent.

Alignment

Halfbloods often follow the alignment of one of their parents, though they often lean more toward chaotic alignments.

Size

Halfbloods match humans in average size and weight. Your size is Medium.

Speed

Your base walking speed is 30 feet.

Darkvision

You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can’t discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.

Innate Spellcasting

You know the poison spray cantrip. You can cast animal friendship an unlimited number of times with this trait, but you can target only snakes with it. Wisdom is your spellcasting ability for these spells.

Poison Immunity

You are immune to poison damage and the poisoned condition.

Skill Versatility

You gain proficiency in one skill and one tool of your choice.

Languages

You can speak, read, and write Common, Abyssal, and one other language of your choice.
