Homebrew Cookie Species Details
Cookie people are a vibrant, diverse, and energetic race full of life and close-knit communities. Cookies take delight in the little things in life, enjoying every moment in the comforts of home. They enjoy having a place to settle into peace and quiet, with a blazing fire, generous meal, and interesting conversation. Most importantly, Cookies can make a home out of anything, be it a remote agricultural community or a wagon train traveling across the kingdom.
Small in Stature, Large in Life
A Cookie’s enthusiasm for life shines through every inch of their tiny body. Cookies average anywhere from 3-4 feet tall and weigh 40-50 pounds. Their tan or golden-brown faces are usually adorned with broad smiles and their bright eyes shine with general contentment. Their hair, usually a similar tone to their baked-just-right skin, has a tendency to stick out in every direction.
A Cookie’s personality is often shown largely in their appearance. They keep their hair styled into curious curls or neat points, with clothing elaborately decorated with embroidery, embossing, or gleaming jewels in the style of icing, sprinkles, and sugary delights.
Never to Crumble
Cookies may have delicate constitutions and be fractured into many various cultures across their vast population, but they are always prepared to help a fellow Cookie out and find great solidarity even among strangers. They work readily with others and are fiercely loyal to their friends, no matter their race. They can display remarkable strength when their friends, families, or communities are threatened.
These qualities make Cookies very impressive soldiers, which is how they became the main makeup of Candyland law enforcement: the Cookie Patrol. The vast majority of Cookies born and raised in the capital of Candyland, the Candy Keep, are born to Cookie Patrol officers and raised to become officers themselves. As adults, they are sent throughout Candyland to protect the land and keep the peace.
Outside the Keep
Across Candyland, Cookies can be found everywhere. Their communities are easy to spot as their homes are often as decorated as their clothing, and usually include small living areas with big families. Cookies look to family elders to guide them, preserving their traditional ways. They live among other races, where their dedication and loyalty offer them abundant rewards and creature comforts. Nearly all of them work within the Cookie Patrol, and regard it as an honorable and practical way of life. Those who set out on the adventuring path often do so to defend their communities or support their friends, and rarely just to explore the world.
Cookie Names
Cookies love names, and most have half a dozen or so. A Cookie’s parents, grandparents, aunts, and uncles each give the Cookie a name, and various nicknames from just about everyone else might or might not stick over time. Cookie names are typically variants on the names of ancestors or distant relatives, though some are wholly new inventions. Usually, a Cookie chooses the name they believe represents them best out of the bunch to go by as an adult.
Subraces
There are many subraces of Cookie, including Sugar, Gingerbread, and Shortbread to name a few, but they are more likely closely related families than true subraces. Each has their own specific cultural quirks and traditions, but largely share the dedication, loyalty, and creature comfort needs as other Cookies.
