Homebrew Avacheli (Dragonborn, Elf) Species Details

Elven descendants of an ancient brass dragon god/dess known variously as Hlal, Aasterinian, and in the fey Quicksilver. In the early days when the high elven empires were first expanding and building great cities, Hlal took the material form of a male high elf named Avachel. Record of his many doings appearing in various myths usually as a trickster. During his lifetime on the material world the first great wars between the high elf empires were starting to take place, he took no sides in this conflict according to some legends, according to others he betrayed all sides and mocked the Elves for their hubris. It was during this time that various Dragonborn Elves began appearing and their heritage was attributed to Avachel as often the father was a mysterious bard who told great jokes. This could have been any Brass dragon but Avachel was the most renowned so the name stuck.

The Draconic blood has long been diluted into elven blood but some features tend to stand out, namely the fanned horns, usually starting as ridges that begin at the temples where the hairline would normally begin, matching the skin tone at the base then shifting towards golden yellow, teal green and/or white, and tougher and smooth at the edges, more like a nail or claw than a horn. sometimes these ridges will form a kind of natural crown across the top of the forehead as well. the extent and size of the fanned horns can also change over the course of the long life of an Avacheli Elf, especially pronounced with those who manage to delve into their natural draconic magic/sorcery as that will reshape their visage to be even more Dragonborn than Elf.

Avacheli in some places are prized as palace guards due to their keen arcane senses being able to early detect nearby magical attacks. To such a degree that helmets for the palace guards are specially designed around their fanned horns, or further accentuating them. in some cases even non-Avacheli elven guards will wear helmets that resemble the fanned horn design. The most iconic image of the Avacheli is of a royal guard throwing himself into the path of a blast of magical flame to protect a young elven princess from an assassin.
