Homebrew The Darkin Species Details
A scream of fear greeted his ears as his will quickly dominated the lesser being. A foolish adventure decided to pull his scythe from his prison without knowing what he was unleashing onto the world. As the adventurer’s body corrupted Raazith quickly devoured their weak soul. A light and feeble meal, but it gave him a new host suitable enough until he finds one he can truly destroy all with. Once the mental screaming of the damned fool stopped Raazith observed his new form. It had been centuries since he last had flesh of his own and he reveled in the torment of the mortal he ensnared as he devoured their soul and molded their flesh into his own. Adapting to his new body Raazith gripped the hilt of his great sword and slowly walks out of his less permanent prison and into a world awaiting his slaughter.
Darkin were at one point mortals before they willingly gave up their humanity to become powerful demons. Whether by greed for power or pure malice they transformed themselves into hideous monstrosities driven to maim and kill. Very aggressive and strong they are a force on the battlefield that any great warrior will fear. Thousands of years ago a lost kingdom found a way to seal them within their weapons. Now effectively immortal they await the day a mortal tries to wield their weapon so they can have a body once more.
A Blade Of Malice
With varying height based on the person they take control of the Darkin are menacing beasts. They twist their forms into a sham and mockery of their true forms they lost an uncountable time ago. They thrive in bloody combat slaughtering their opponents with decisive blows. While the Darkin itself is imprisoned within their weapon their hosts still require sustenance and rest to keep going.
Darkin can manipulate their form however they want within the confines of their host body. However, they always retain evidence of their demonic corruption. A Darkin’s eye color can range from red to gold to black and they glow. Darkin can wear any clothes that fit their host and prefer whatever will complement their fighting.
Darkin do not have their own culture as they were originally a mortal from any race that is able to contact demonic entities, therefore, they retain traces of their original culture, baises, and judgments.
