Homebrew Crabfolk from Galitum Species Details
If you’re considering taking a Crabfolk or one of the other "kins from the ocean" to adventure with be wary! They cause randsome trouble by their hivemind- interest- thinking ,serving one queen or king and above all the royals the woven mother ( a to humans horrific goddess of slim mercy, the living breathing sea). They resemble the raw power of the ocean, the crabfolk, you don`t mess with a giant crab on a whim, do you ?
Never underrestimate the merfolk ,all of them have highlighted blessings from Kara`za for example ripping a body in two, lifting inhumane amounts of bulders ... They come from the towering debts where Kraken live and hide!
Show them respect and be direct, cause "misfits or diserters don`t lie a lot. They die a lot." - that is a Saying in their culture what I`ve been told once.
"In short the merefolk may act out of your socities standarts ,cause they don`t know better or lack the interest in it. They have no perceptive of good and evil, just benefitting their chosen group of Belive."

( in Progress, but the origin story of, the crab folk fits barely) The usual merfolk are monstrous humanoids but in one regard is the crab folk better, they are neutral and very social, so if no aggression is committed, they aren`t provoked. Their terrarium, their ( self considered) Bloodbrother / sisters also called companions, are above all else. Sharing the blood thro an open wound, healing them, or being able to make them bleed enforces their respect.
Only a fool looks at the crabfolk and sees nothing more than giant ants. They are just as dangerous as these creaturs and live in hives, but are all intelligent.
No Shell, No shine.
At their core, Crabfolk view other humanoids with an indifference verging on pity. Born into the world lacking chitin and the colors gifts of the woven mother( Kara`xa, an ocean Goddess of the unsettling Sea), it’s a wonder they have managed to survive for so long. The typical humanoid would barely make it through a day in the swamps.
Still, if other creatures prove useful to Crabfolk, those creatures can trigger a protective response made all the stronger by their apparent weakness. The Crabfolk assess such beings as hatchlings, young ones incapable of protecting themselves but who might prove useful in the future if they receive care.

Crabfolk Quirks
| d8 | Quirk |
|---|---|
| 1 | You hate waste and see no reason not to scavenge fallen enemies. Everybody treasures something, I take care of it. |
| 2 | You sleep best while mostly submerged in water. |
| 3 | Money is a means to an end. And you are not there jet the ocean must rise and flood. |
| 4 | You think there are only two species of humanoids: merfolk and landlings ( = all beings with two legs are insufficient) |
| 5 | You can use craftsmen's tools with your small arms. It's your true talent in response to all highly suitable situations, to better fit in with your comrades outside of brawling. |
| 6 | You still don’t understand how to use these tiny pokey- things to eat. You got hands. |
| 7 | You appreciate the airbreather(= humanoids) who realize they need steel armor and swords to match the deep gifts you were born with. Suggest breathing contests?! |
| 8 | You enjoy eating your seafood while it’s still wriggling. You enjoy cooking "Bloody jaw" as Mama did. |
Crabfolk Names
The Crabfolk is alike the Lizardfolk with simple names and but take their names from a variant of the Dwarven language called teran. They use simple descriptives granted by the hivemother based on an individual’s notable deeds or actions. For example, Garreti translates as “auf Axe,” a name given to a crab folk trader who brang great tressures and accumulated dwarven-made weapons. A Crabfolk who likes to hide in a stand of reeds before ambushing an animal might be called Arches, which means “she who hunts” to describe how she blends into the savanna/swampland.
Crabfolk make no to little distinctions between male and female in their naming conventions. Only the color of the chitin armor resembles a slight hint of it`s gender.
