Homebrew Aivik Species Details

Physical Description

The Aivik are walrus-like humanoids. Their flippers are long like arms, with prehensile fingers. Their tail is divided to make legs. Each of their limbs end with a webbed flipper. Like a walrus, they have thick blubber on their body, which accounts for a lot of their weight. This weight is centered around their gut area, giving them a large bulge. They also have thick, wrinkly skin. Their faces are basically that of a walrus, complete with whiskers and tusks.

History

The Aivik people or walrus folk that originate from the elemental plane of water. It is said they crossed over into the Prime Material Plane because they were being hunted to extinction the creatures of the deep. While still scarce in numbers their people live peacefully in the shallow wet lands in the northern territory of Zrina on the continent of Khorvaguad.

Aivik mature at the same rate as humans reaching adult hood at 20. They live anywhere from 80-100 years old

Size

Aivik are between 5 and 6 feet tall and weigh between 450 and 600 pounds. Your size is Medium.

Speed

Your base walking & swimming speed is 30 feet.

Perceptive

You have proficiency in the Perception skill.

Blubber

You can focus yourself to occasionally shrug off injury. When you take damage, you can use your reaction to roll a d12. Add your Constitution modifier to the number rolled and reduce the damage by that total. After you use this trait, you can’t use it again until you finish a short or long rest.

Hold Breath

You can hold your breath for up to 1 hour at a time.

Survivalist

You have proficiency in the Survival skill.

Languages

You can speak, read, and write Common and Aquan.
