Homebrew Blexlet Species Details

Through a mix of coincidence and stupidity, Fulgraz found himself stuck within the endless abyss. Now lost, Fulgraz wandered his new prison ignorant of the many dangers. Whether by raw fury, divine influence, or sheer dumb luck; Fulgraz eventually found and aligned himself with Juiblex, the slime lord. After becoming a sentient slime servant of the all consuming lord, Fulgraz returned to the Orc culture eager to consume alongside those he once resembled. Apart from fighting, Orc culture is founded on breeding. Given Fulgraz' disposition, he debated how he'd continue to breed. His conclusion was to take his greatsword and split himself in two.
To his credit, Fulgraz' insane decision spawned forth the smartest slimes found upon the material plane."

Blexlets are the spawn of one more insane than any other, who aligned himself with the slime lord Juiblex. While their bodies are made of ooze, they take the form and mind of other humanoids. Like oozes, Blexlets love to consume and eat anything they can find. Unlike oozes, they're civilized about it.

Unending Hunger

Blexlets have an unceasing desire to eat something, and will often eat anything they can get their hands on, literally. If a Blexlet so desires, they may eat the flowers they trample, the seats they take, and the robes they wear. Thankfully, society has taught them not to consume everything they can see.

However, that wasn't always the case. The earliest Blexlets stuck together in some semblance of a community. These Blexlets ate their environment dry of food and sustenance. When even the earth beneath them could no longer provide, they scattered as a people. These scattered Blexlets took some time to learn the intricacies of society. Many bartenders can detail their experience losing their stick to a Blexlet.

Now, they can be found throughout society. Though an odd sight, they aren't unwelcome.

Multiplication by Subdivision

Despite many myths and assumptions, one cannot simply create new life by severing the arm of a Blexlet. Likewise, dicing them into a thousand little bits will not spawn a thousand little lifeforms. However, Blexlets do not reproduce with a mate, and likewise have no need of gender. Instead, when the ooze-brain is divided in two, the two halves assume their own lives.

Once separated, the two new Blexlets take some time to reorganize the ooze they have available. Following this, the two entities will share life together, unaware they once made one whole. Blexlets have no memory of who they once were, yet also seem subconsciously aware of what their progenitor once knew and understood. At times, they may even recall names from a past life.

Cleaning Duty

Given that Blexlets can eat anything, they often have no need of a career for their survival. Instead, a Blexlet may work to fund odd hobbies or fill their boredom. A Blexlet will often find work cleaning. One might be hired by a wizard to clean their laboratory of mysterious chemicals. Another may be tasked to smooth the king's marble hallways. Many are recruited by criminal organizations to remove corpses. Furthermore, their waste functions like polish, and can be used to clean weapons and armor.

Once satisfied that they have finished their lives duties or are otherwise content with their accomplishments, a Blexlet will often take that time to subdivide.

Colorful Consumers

Blexlets come in a variety of shapes and colors. Outside their control, and even against their best wishes, a Blexlets coloration often assumes that of their favorite food. This can change throughout their life, and a previously red Blexlet may appear blue a month later.

While Blexlet's bodies are made of ooze, they take the form and mind of other humanoids. Like oozes, Blexlets love to consume and eat anything they can find. Unlike oozes, they're civilized about it.

Ability Score Increase

Your Constitution score increases by 2. However, your Intelligence score decreases by 1.

Age

The Blexlet matures faster when it eats. One that gorges itself in its younger years may reach adulthood as early as 6. A Blexlet can live as long as 200 years, though they normally subdivide themselves long before then.

Alignment

Without any parents to guide them, almost all Blexlets are chaotic. While not an inherently evil species, the ability to escape and melt through any restraints lends itself to a criminal lifestyle.

Size

Blexlets typically stand over 6 feet tall, and weight around 250 pounds. Your size is Medium.

Here's how to determine your height and weight randomly, starting with rolling a size modifier:
 Size Modifier = 2d8
 Height = 5 feet + 6 inches + your size modifier in inches
 Weight in pounts = 180 + (2d6 x your size modifier)

Speed

Your base walking speed is 30 feet.

Ooze

Your creature type is ooze, rather than humanoid.

Glutinous Mass

You have advantage on Strength (Athletics) or Dexterity (Acrobatics) check you make to escape from being grappled, restrained, or squeeze through tight spaces.

Your unique body also has the following traits:
• You cannot be choked by creatures and swallowed food. You can still suffocate in an oxygen deprived environment.
• You don't have bones to break, organs to injure, or blood to bleed.
• You can recover from being squashed or stretched.

Insatiable

You can eat most nonmagical substances, including wood, stone, and metal. After you spend 10 minutes eating, you gain a number of temporary hit points equal to your Constitution modifier (minimum 1).

Acidic Mass

You have resistance to acid damage.
