Homebrew Awakened Door Species Details

Late at night, a magically inclined individual finds themselves bored stiff inside a bedroom. To alleviate this they decide to throw an Awaken spell at a nearby doorway fully expecting it to fail. They turn over in their bed to go to sleep and the door seemingly starts to creak as consciousness seeps into the wood. 

A druid hides in a room as a series of knocks slam against a nearby wooden door. Scared out of her mind she flings a spell mistaking 'Awaken' for another damaging one. She closes her eyes awaiting the horrible inevitability. Though she was greeted with horror, it was in the form of screaming coming from her attackers and the door.  

Living Stillness

The ability for the Awakened Doors to exist is a mystery to even the most knowledgeable wizard. The spell used to bring them into the world of thought was one that was never intended for them. It appears though that their connection to the natural world through their wooden bodies seems to have been enough to elicit a positive result from the spell. The first one to ever attempt to Awaken a door is unknown but he/she is rumored to be a strong sorcerer. 

Names

Calling these creatures by a specific title is incredibly difficult as a unique personality is hard to read or even ascertain through conversation. Usually, names given are taken from the wood in which the door is made out of. 

Creatures of Curiosity 

Like many Awakened creatures, Awakened Doors are usually curious about their purpose in life and the reasoning for their creation. They will definitely ask anyone and everyone they can what they think about a plethora of different things.

While remaining motionless you look like a door.

You are able to speak a language known by your creator.

Knock-Knock

Swinging your whole body in one large arching motion you can deal 1d6 bludgeoning damage.

Wooden Body

Your wooden frame makes you susceptible to the element of fire, but given the depth and sturdiness to your frame you also resist piercing damage. 

Age

The lifespan of an Awakened Door has never been examined. They may just rot away like normal wood.

Alignment

You have very little exposure to sentience let alone the concept of good and evil. You are Neutral.
