Homebrew Undead (Dark Souls) Species Details

A humanoid afflicted with the curse of undeath, the darksign eternally tearing you from the long sleep of death and draining your very humanity until your form is reduced to a hollow shell. Only the power of hope and determination to break the cycle of undeath can truly stave off the curse, but can the dark sign truly be broken? That is for the fate of the undead to decide.

The curse of Undeath is not limited to any time, place or universe. As the first flame which governs the laws of reality faded, the curse spread like a creeping darkness to other planes of reality. Permeating and seeping throughout the multiverse. As such, undead may find themselves slipping in-between time and space in a similar fashion.

“We are amidst strange beings, in a strange land. The flow of time itself is convoluted; with heroes centuries old phasing in and out. The very fabric wavers, and relations shift and obscure. There's no telling how much longer your world and mine will remain in contact.”

you gain proficiency with two tools and one skill of your choice

Whenever you level up in this race, you may choose to reallocate your stat bonuses and proficiencies to a maximum limit of 20 per stat.

Darksign

When you reach 0hp and are not stabilized in this race, you make one death save instead of three. The DC for this death save is 15.

upon failing this death save, you temporarily die, reviving in your body 24 hours later. If your body was destroyed (I.E. you fell into lava) your body reforms in a safe unoccupied space within two miles of where you died.

when you revive, you must take a penalty to your choice of CON, WIS, INT or CHR. Any score above 12 receives a -2 penalty and any score below 10 receives a -1 penalty. If any of the depleted ability scored drop to 1 or lower, your character becomes hollow, losing their sanity to the undead curse and effectively dying. You lose control of your character unless a wish spell is used to restore your lost ability scores.

Any time you level up in this race, you can choose to restore any of your depleted ability scores by 1, and any time you would receive an ability score improvement, you can choose instead to restore one of your depleted ability scores to its original amount. (I.E. Anri of Astora had a charisma of 18, but this had been depleted to 10 by this feature, upon reaching level 12, she may have chosen to restore her charisma to 18.)

additionally, whenever you revive using this feature, you return with the benefits of a long rest.
