Homebrew Axolote Species Details

Crawling from the muddy shores of Chult, dotted around the coastlines in small communities lay the Axolotes. The Axolotes are a small group of amphibious creatures who had only recently evolved within the last century from the humble axolotl. They tend to live in small burrows beneath the muddy coast of Refuge Bay, they lead simple lives fishing, farming and helping each other.

Axolote Traits

Since appearing on land, the Axolotes have evolved certain traits, including:

Ability Score Improvement

Your Dexterity score increases by 2, your Wisdom score increases by 1 and your Strength decreases by 1

Age

Axolotes mature a lot faster than humans, reaching maturity at 6 years old. However, they also live a lot shorter than humans, living up to 15 years old.

Size

Axolotes are on average 3-4 feet tall and weigh around 35 pounds. Your size is Small.

Speed

Your base walking speed in 25 feet, and you have a swimming speed of 45 feet as well as a burrowing speed of 10 feet.

Amphibious

You can breathe air and water.

Limb Regeneration

Axolotes have a natural healing factor and can regenerate from many different attacks. When you take damage, you're able to use your action to regain 1d6 + your Wisdom modifier hit points. When you use this ability, any limbs, scars or wounds you have acquired, that weren't caused by magic, regrow. You regain the ability to do so after a long rest.

You can speak, read and write Common, Grung and Aquan.
