Homebrew The Good Armoured Chicken Species Details

Not much is known about Armoured chicken as they are quite rare. The only known way to birth them is to cast awaken on an egg that was created by a bag of beans. Due to the very rarity of this race not many documents have been made on such a rare creature and their habits. 

Beak and Feather

They appear as a normal chicken but instead of their feathers being the normal soft fluffy chicken feathers they are one of a variety of metallic colours. They seem to be light enough to fly a little but still strong enough to protect the chicken from some hits. Due to the lack of information on armoured chickens, people do not know if there is a difference between the male and female feather colours though we can assume there is due to normal chickens having a colour difference.

 Unknown origins

Armoured chickens prefer to be in dense forest so it's easier to hide their shiny feathers from predators. They like to walks around clawing at the ground looking for juicy worms while conversating with other chickens. Not much is known about how they fight due to their rareness but people can assume they prefer not to just avoid combat all together due to their smaller size.

They often take pride in showing of their shiny scales. If they see a safe opportunity to show off their feathers in the sun they will. Letting light reflect is one of the most joyful activities armoured chickens can participate in.

Armoured Chick Behaviours

From a young age armoured chicks ideals are very malleable. Unless solid ideals have been installed in them already then they will often agree with what others are saying unless it would cause harm to them self. This often leads to Armoured chickens inheriting similar or the exact same ideals as their parents but there is a chance that they deviate and carve their own path. Armoured chickens are also pretty intelligent compared to their non armoured counter parts. This leads them to being very social beings. 

Homelands

Armoured chickens are very similar to chickens in the way that they live. They prefer to live in high density forest so that it's harder to be caught. Sometimes though ,wether due to magical means or just them being a little too curious, they can end up lost and far away from home. If this does happen then they often have a hard time adjusting to their new surroundings due to their shiny feathers constantly bouncing light off of them.

Once an armoured chicken settles down somewhere they start to make a nest to attract mates. They use shiny objects which reflect coloured light off of their scales to make themselves seem more attractive.

 

The Good Armoured Chicken Traits

As an armoured chicken, you have certain traits in common with your people. Being able to fly loosely fly at 1st level is exceptionally effective in certain circumstances and exceedingly dangerous in others.

Armoured Chicken reach maturity by age 1. Compared to humans, Armoured Chicken don’t usually live longer than 10 years.

Armoured chickens are mostly concerned about their survival. They mostly do things that will either benefit them now or in the future. (Neutral) 

Size

Armoured chickens are about 2-3 feet tall. Their metallic feathers make them more heavy than most chickens, making their weight between 5 and 6 pounds. Your size is tiny.

Speed

Your base walking speed is 15 feet.

Flight

You have a flying speed of 5 feet. To use this speed, you need to have a running start.

Talons

Your talons are natural weapons, which you can use to make unarmed strikes. If you hit with them, you deal slashing damage equal to 1d2 + your Strength modifier, instead of the bludgeoning damage normal for an unarmed strike.
