Homebrew Walkers Species Details
Walkers are beings that come from two different dimensions, the End, a place surrounded by cold endless void only with small islands with minimal resources available as land or the Nether, another version of a blazing hell with monstrous creatures with smaller biomes inside of itself like twisted and warped forests or barren stone grounds and soul-filled valleys. The harsh characteristics of these places make it dangerous for foreign creatures to visit, even for a short time, though it can be easier with preparation. These creatures though, are perfectly adapt at surviving in their environments, making them quite powerful beings and find little trouble in the mortal planes... well expect for the oxygen difference, though that does not stop the most adventurous walkers, who create masks to adapt.
Void and Nether Power
Sometimes, the more humanoid Walkers can create relationships with mortals, sometimes even resulting in children. They inherit the powers of their Walker parent and the humanity of their mortal parent, making them look more humanoid though there is always still something odd about them. The power flowing through their veins shows differently in each Walker though there is always some physical and magical trait in them.
The children of a mortal and Walker will usually pass as a human, though they are larger than the average person in height. The Voidwalkers are more lean-built and lighter while Netherwalkers are stockier and heavier in frame. They can also inherit the traits of their mortal parents, such as pointed ears from an elf, the small hands and feet from a halfling or fangs from a tiefling.
They can either been seen as rulers or social outcasts, both admired and feared of their power.
Reserved Observers and Confident Adventurers
Voidwalkers are more of an introverted bunch, tending to keep to themselves or a small group of people, rarely being seen in large crowds. They dislike attention and wish to stay out of sight, this can greatly impact a lot of Voidwalkers self confidence. Though introverted, they are naturally curious creatures and like to observe things, usually writing about other races and monsters while they research magical items and classes.
Netherwalkers are extroverted and self-confident, they usually have a stoic demeanor or they are pretty friendly and persistent folk. They love being the centre of attention and think of themselves above any challenge that comes to them. This can manifest as a great deal of arrogance or good self-assurance. Though sometimes they can underestimate challenges and get themselves into trouble. Though self-confident, they have fragile egos, and they are sore losers and over-weep at failure, they need constant reassurance and feel the need to perfect their crafts.
Walker Lands
Walkers are rare beings, barely seeing their kind at all. Most of them in the mortal plane don't even know that others like them exist so they adapt to the villages and towns that they were born in. The more distinctive their heritage is though, the harder time they usually would have, being treated very differently from everyone else. They would occasionally seek out hermitage in the woods where they are free to study and not be bothered by harassment that could occur in large cities. Voidwalkers tend to stick to cold stoney or icy areas when they can, unconsciously reminding them of their Walker parents home. While Netherwalkers gravitate to hot forests or deserts. Most Walkers are adventurous and crave knowledge, wanting either mentally or physically stimulant jobs when they can.
Walker Names
Walker names usually come from their mortal parents, though they will also name themselves relating to their physical attributes.
Otherworldly Appearance
End derived Walkers are known as Voidwalkers, they range from black and purple smokey beings with glowing white eyes to more humanoid creatures, with a range from natural skin tones to either a pitch black or purple colored skin. They always have a touch of void visible on them, that can be through their hands fading to black or bright purple freckles, they can also occasionally grow horns or goat like ears and digitigrade legs with very thin feather tipped tails. Some are more hidden than others. Their hair is naturally black, brown, purple or white while their eyes are either black or vibrant purple.
Nether derived Walkers are simply called Netherwalkers, they are fire-based beings, they can be near-tiefling like, the only difference being the lack of tails and demonic traits. Instead they may bare tusks and the occasional pig like ears, though they can also bare horns and hooves. Like Voidwalkers they can range from being flame-like creatures with glowing eyes to more humanoid creatures, with a range from natural skin tones to deep shades of red, some even a red tinted grey, the rarest Netherwalkers can be a type of cyan or light orange. They always have a touch of the nether on them, this can be smoking constantly coming from their being or bright orange freckles. Some are more hidden than others. Their hair is naturally red, orange, yellow, brown, black or white while their eyes are either a vibrant red or black.
