Homebrew Demonic Aasimar Species Details

I saw him, wings black as the void from his back, kinda winglike, his eyes blazing with the fury of the infernal abyss. The extradimensional beasts charged him.  His blazing flail smashed through them, and their heads hit the ground. Turns out he's a demonic Aasimar.

Demonic Aasimar are rare, created upon death by making deals with demons.  They are given flight, flame, and another chance at life, but at the cost of years of their afterlife.

Abyssal Champions

Demonic aasimar are placed in the world to serve as destroyers. Their patrons expect them to strike, and strike again.

Demonic Aasimar receive visions and guidance from their demonic patron via dreams. These dreams help shape them, granting a sense of destiny and a desire for destruction.

Each Demonic Aasimar can count a specific abyssal entity as a guide. This entity is typically a demon who acts as a source of chaos to the mortal world.

Demonic Appearance

Some have horns curling back upon their head.  Your skin is charcoal, grey, or a combination of both, and may have texture like a charcoal surface with cracks that glow red or orange beneath.
You may choose to have hooves or feet.
Your eyes blaze red at the iris, but the whites are now black as the void.

Blazing Wanderers

Demonic Aasimar find it hard to hide their new status, with eyes like the infernal abyss.  One look, and others know that they've made a dark deal.  A normal life becomes much less likely, even though making these deals at death is usually done to return to loved ones.

When traveling, Demonic Aasimar strike fear in commoners even if they have an uplifting personality.  Most would prefer that they hadn't come by at all.  Anything terrible that happens up to a year afterwards has a chance of being blamed on the Demonic Aasimar who just walked by.

Aasimar Guides

Demonic Aasimar are instructed in their dreams by their patron demon.  As such, the guidance is not a direct command or a simple spoken word. Instead, the Demonic Aasimar receives visions, prophecies, and feelings.

The demonic being is far from omniscient. Its guidance is based on its understanding of the current state of the world, and it might have insight into combating especially powerful creatures that it knows about.

As part of fleshing out a Demonic Aasimar character, consider the nature of that character’s demonic patron. Conflicted Souls

Despite its dark origin, a Demonic Aasimar is mortal and possesses free will. Most Demonic Aasimar follow their ordained path, but some grow to see their abilities as a curse. These disaffected Demonic Aasimar are typically annoyed by the constant push to destroy, and instead turn away from the world, or become agents of good. In their minds, their exposure to demonic powers amounted to little more than headaches.

Patrons demand

Starting at 3rd level, Make a CON DC13 save to prevent this from happening as you can burn your companions.

You unleash the demonic energy within yourself, causing searing flames to radiate from you, and have the appearance of molten liquid pour out of your eyes and mouth.

Your transformation lasts for 1 minute or until you successfully save your CON saving throw. During it, you burn in a searing fire, shedding bright light in a 10-foot radius and dim light for an additional 10 feet, and at the end of each of your turns, you and each creature within 10 feet of you take fire damage equal to half your level (rounded up). In addition, once on each of your turns, you can deal extra fire damage to one target when you deal damage to it with an attack or a spell. The extra fire damage equals your level.

Once you use this trait, you can’t use it again until you finish a long rest.

Darkvision

Cursed with a demonic soul, your vision can easily cut through darkness. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can’t discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.

Size

Demonic Aasimar have the same range of height and weight as humans.

Patrons Favor

You are a chosen of your Patron Demon.
Once per long rest as a bonus action you may call out to your Patron Demon, asking for assistance.  Roll 1d100.  On a 10 or lower you receive 1d12 psychic damage.  On a 90 or higher your next attack roll counts as a critical hit unless you roll a critical failure.  On a 100 your DM chooses an action the Patron Demon makes to directly assist you.
Examples of direct assistance would be dealing 1d20+10 damage to an enemy creature, increasing your AC by 2 for a minute, or giving you resistance to a relevant damage type for a minute.   These are not the only assists, but give an example of the level of power the assists generally come in.
