Homebrew Arasi Species Details

In the eternal twilight of the Feywilds, a slender figure with branch-like antlers stroll past the shrubs and bushes of the floral floor towards a distant drone of deep humming. The Arasi lifts its deer-head, spreading the resonant tone to this corner of dense trees, its wolf companion howling in unison. As they conclude their ballad, the nearby groins of a fox alerts the towering elk to help the creature in need, discovering they have trapped their paw in the roots of a tree. Gently and calmly the Arasi free the now ecstatic fox, as the gentle giant smiles and continues on its journeyless wander.

Arasi are mysterious creatures barely being encountered by other races as they dwell in forested grounds with little light. They are kind-hearted creatures, acting as veterinarians for the creatures that share their homes with their humanoid intellect. Arasi come in many colours, most commonly brown, but are known to come in white, black, ginger and mossy green. They are terrifyingly tall with deer-like faces and features including their fur and legs.

Lone Wanderers

Despite their caring nature, arasi have no solid social structure, instead wandering the woods in search for sick and injured creatures. What little social events they do have includes a ceremonial harmonisation where arasi use their baritone voices to hum across wide stretches of forest to mark the creation of an arasi.

Arasi are not born in the conventional sense but are instead created by Dryads and are subsequently raised by them. Dryads create arasi to protect the faerie life living within their terrain, which the arasi do without question. Fledgling arasi stand at around 3 feet and grow progressively until the age of 20 when they reach 9 to over 10 feet tall.

Arasi do not care for material values nor do they seek familial or romantic bonds (although they can become attached to others), instead relying on the company of animals and plants alike, thereby steering clear of urban or barren locations. Like a bull in a china shop, arasi cannot fit into most standard buildings or doorframes and usually feel great discomfort if they can as they much prefer open spaces of the vertical verity.

Peaceful Yet Strong

For arasi, they have no need for hatred or negativity, only concern for the creatures they tend to, making them incredibly docile. Most when encountering a stranger will have only curiosity and will never think of provoking or attacking the passer-by.

However, just because they mean no harm does not mean they are not capable of it. Arasi are naturally well-built, often using their strength when a creature has broken a paw or wing and need carrying elsewhere.

An arasi will only ever provoke an attack when a creature is be harmed by another: in which case they will charge at the offender with their antlers in order to frighten them into retreat, only fulling attacking the creature as a last resort. Most do not carry weapons although some possess walking sticks, nor do they wear armour but simple garbs.

Exploration and Adventure

Arasi journey not for selfish means: If one joins a party they will provide support both medical and emotional. If one is on a long and strenuous venture, they are perhaps needed in their home or feel the presence of an abandoned creature.

Arasi Names

Arasi do not go by names and if a being encounters one they are usually simply referred to as "Arasi". This being said, some arasi take the names of the creatures/plants they care for most and are often in Elvish.

It is also important to note that arasi have no biological sex as they have no need for it, but may identify as feminine, masculine or androgynous.
