Homebrew Bat-Eared Fox Species Details

The Bat-Eared fox is a peculiar and somewhat rarer brand of fox in Faunia. Their natural fox cunning is bolstered by their heightened senses and unique physiology.

Bat-Eared Fox Traits

The Bat-Eared fox benefits greatly from both its physiology and habits. Its natural adaptations provide it unique traits compared to most canids.

Darkvision

Being a fox, your eyes are attuned to both light and darkness. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light and in darkness as if it were dim light. You discern colors in that darkness only as shades of gray.

Sensitive Ears

Your large, fine-tuned ears pick up on every minor noise. You have advantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks based on your hearing. Additionally, creatures have disadvantage on Dexterity (Stealth) and Charisma (Deception) checks to hide noises like their voice from you.

Holey Home

You are accustomed to digging both to create a home and forage for insects. This affinity for the dirt grants you a burrowing speed equal to half your walking speed when on natural surfaces made of dirt.

Family Oriented

A fierce loyalty to a pack has found its roots in your blood, giving you advantage on an attack roll against a creature if at least one of your allies is within 5 feet of the creature and the ally isn't incapacitated.

Cunning of the Fox

Less unique among foxes but true to you nonetheless is your cunning. Disguising your plans and intercepting those of others is in your DNA. You gain proficiency in both Wisdom (Insight) and Charisma (Deception) checks. If you get proficiency in these skills from another source, this may become expertise.
