Homebrew Azul Species Details

Not many can claim to call Ossathas, the Astral Sea, home. But, with the latent arcane that wanders the astral waters, there is bound to be something that wades through the time lost Astral waves. The Azul are such a people, unique to the latent magical energies of the Astral sea. These people are born from the collision of an astral comet and the corpse of a dead god, it is because of this; the Azul are not biologically birthed. Not many scholars have recorded when these people first came into being, many argue and it is even suggested in the Codex of the Infinite that the Azul came into being around the time of the Second Invasion of Chaos. They are amongst the few that can navigate the waters of the Astral Sea, using the latent energies to push their ships forward and find time lost relics of the eras before the Revelation. The same energy that birthed them would simply dissipate when they died, until Sados the Goddess of Dragons and Wisdom claimed them as her chosen. After their birth, the Azul will often seek distant comets to colonize and use to navigate the Astral Sea.

Guiding Light. The Azul are cunning and must remain vigilant to evade the occasional hazard of the Astral Sea. The Azul range in height from 5 feet to about 5'8" tall, and their weight ranges from 96 to 160 pounds, males tending to have darker coloration and stand taller. Azul men have no facial hair, leading many to believe if they can even be separated into two different genders. Their eyes have no pupils and tend to match the coloration of their hue.

 Nomads and Vagabonds. Azul do not lay claim to any lands or countries, their homes lie on the backs of astral comets that sail through the infinite void of Ossathas. Differing communities of Azul will share what materials and goods they have scavenged throughout their travels. They take pride in the trinkets and stories they gather from one another. Due to the circumstances of their birth, they remain a tight knit community and treat one another like family. It is not common, but there are some Azul that venture outside of their communities. These Azul are often hired as navigators of the Astral sea, due to the nomadic nature of their people. Azul often pursue vocations of knowledge and wisdom, in hopes to bring themselves closer to their deity. They choose to show their faith through the cultivation of knowledge and temperament, it is rare to see an Azul lose their temper.

Azul Names. Azul tend to use limited naming conventions. Their names are not shorter than 2 syllables and no longer than 4 syllables, as written in the Codex of the Infinite they do this to make it easy to remember. They have no surnames, though they treat the comet of their birth as a "family/community" name.

Ability Score Increase

Yout Intelligence score increases by 2, and your Wisdom score increases by 1.

Age

Azul are often born at the age of, to mortal standards, 16. They reach maturity at 20, and have been known to have similar lifespans to elves. The eldest amongst the Azul being recorded as 1,200 years.

Size

Azul are around the same height as humans, ranging from 4 to 5 feet tall. Your size is either Medium or Small.

Speed

Your base walking speed is 30 feet.

Secrets of Ossathas

Due to your nomadic and scavenger lifestyle on the plane of Ossathas, once per long rest you can cast True Seeing on yourself. Additionally, you naturally shed dim light within 15 feet of you.

Not of the Material

Your exposure to the latent magical energies of the Astral Sea has caused your body to become used to magical effects. You gain advantage on magical spells and effects made against you and are resistant to cold damage.

Natural Artisan

You gain proficiency in three skills of your choice and an artisan tool proficiency of your choice.

Languages

You can speak, read, and write Common, Primordial (Azulan), and one extra language of your choice.
