Homebrew Wolven Gnoll Species Details
While the Hyena like Gnoll had served Yeenoghu faithfully, the demon lord wanted something new, something to revitalise his campaign on the Material Plane. And so he went after the wolves, corrupting them and them using them to create new Gnolls, Gnolls of a Wolven variety. These Gnolls, while stronger lacked complete subordination to Yeenoghu on birth, and while many were brought back into tow, some were not.
Wolven Gnolls are bonded with their pack as well as whoever they choose to follow, be that Yeenoghu or more traditional wolven deities.
They are wanderers by nature, acting like more sentient less uncontrollable gnolls, although they do stick mostly to their forests, where their existence can remain a far off nightmare to the civilised world.
As a Wolven Gnoll you have to consider your connection to Yeenoghu, all gnolls feel his pull, but how strong is it with you?
Wolven Gnoll Traits
Wolven Gnoll's traits combine neatly those off Wolves and of Gnolls, taking the the best from both.Rampage
When you reduce a creature to 0 hit points with a melee attack on your turn, you can take a bonus action to move up to half your speed and make a bite attack
Ability Score Increase
Your dexterity score increase by 2, and your wisdom increases by 1.
Bite
Your fangs are a natural weapon that you can use to make unarmed strikes, if you hit with it you deal piercing damage equal to 1d6 + your strength modifier and the target must succeed on a DC 11 Strength saving throw or be knocked prone.
Age
Wolven Gnolls reach maturity at creation or if born at 5, created Gnolls won't live past 30, Born ones can live to 40
Darkvision
Your Gnoll and Wolf heritage grant you 60ft of darkvision, allowing you to see in dim light like it was bright light and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can't discern colour in darkness only shades of gray.
Keen hearing and smell
Thanks to your wolven heritage, you have Keen hearing and Smell, granting you advantage on perception checks based off hearing or smell.
Gnoll weapon Training
Your Gnoll heritage grants you proficiency in Spears and Longbows
Multiattack
Your gnoll heritage grants you Multiattack, allowing you to attack once with a Melee attack and once with a ranged attack. This feature can only be used twice per short rest.
Languages
You can speak, read and write Gnoll, Common and Wolven Gnoll, understand and speak the howls of Wolves and Dire Wolves as well as smatterings of Abyssal and Winter Wolf
