Homebrew Arcavios Giant Species Details
The Giants of Arcavios hold a history as imposing as their stature. Once a formidable society of roving warriors and disaplined shamans. Their endless conquest was completely stopped by the Blood Age. Taking more and more desperate pushes to secure a true empire for their kind but ultimately proving fuitle. Unable to take a strong enough stand against the more numerous Orcs and Kor. By the end of the Blood Age, much like the Loxodon, the Giants had been reduced to smaller nomadic tribes wandering the land. Acting as mercenaries or workers for more established towns and cities. Eventually, when the Elder Dragons required hands to help construct the college of Strixhaven, the Giants were recruited in order to help build the great campus. An easy task given their impressive strength and craftsmanship. For their efforts, The Elder Dragons gave the Giant clans a home in the form of a city out in the mountains east of the campus. Allowing them to rebuild and expand soceity beyond simple blades and hands for hire. Holding the college in high regard, many Giants still hold onto their old Shamanstic and warrior ways. Studying hard on their history to one day be skilled enough to join the college their ancestors helped build. Many Giants favor Lorehold as their perfered college for their relations to the spirits and ancient history. But some have been known to take up the path of the Prismari to let their ancient culture mix with dazzling spectacle, or even Silverquill to bellow forth powerful monologues of the great feats of Giants past. The Giants are a proud people, ones who come from a past of near devastation and destruction. And now live in a world they helped build and were rewarded for justly.
Giants are giant, of course. While not so collasal that they block out the sky by mearly standing, they still impose a rather intimidating height and width compared to the human populace of Arcavios. With the shortest of their kin standing at 10 feet tall, to their largest being nearly 17 feet. With a common middle ground usually being somewhere around 12 feet. Most Giants tend to be quite strong with little need to achieve such muscle, lending themselves to be master craftsmen, workers and warriors. A Giant tends to be rather reclusive, their culture lending them more towards revelry of the past, and the seclusion of their own home means they tend not to meet many outsiders until they come to Strixhaven. Still, when approached and not angered. Many will find Giants to become their most stalwart companions. Unendingly stubborn to let go of a wrong against their friends, loyal almost to a fault, and outrageously joyful and jolly in a festival or party.
Giants also hold a great connection to the spirits of the past. Believing that their greatest warriors and generals never truly come to the afterlife, and instead choose a descendant of theirs to bond with and watch over. This could very well be a leading reason as to why so many Giants tend to favor Lorehold above the other colleges.
