Homebrew Arkosios Species Details
Whereas tieflings have fiendish blood in their veins and aasimar are the descendants of celestial beings, arkosios are born with both fiendish and celestial blood running through their veins. These folk generally look similar in stature and frame to humans, with a few striking differences: a pair of wings sprout from their shoulders, a dark devilish wing and a white angel wing, generally miscolored eyes, and small devilish fangs that peek from a smile. Arkosios often attempt to pass as humans in order to escape the persecution the comes with their heritage. More often than not, Arkosios are solitary creatures, but they can become some of the most vicious and dangerous warriors when provoked.
Hunted Outcast
After birth, most arkosios are hidden among the material planes as a way to hide from both celestials and fiends, as these beings are considered abominations by both. Arkosios usually hide and inhabit regions that are considered too dangerous to settle, hoping that the dangers will afford them a kind of secrecy and peace.
From an early age, an arkosios receives vigorous and brutal training to increase their prowess in battle and ability to survive their hunters. Often these hunters are tieflings or aasimar sent by their ancestors to exterminate any arkosios that are born.
Hidden Wanderers
While arkosios are impressive wariors, they typically prefer to keep a low profile, rather than make a name for themselves. An arkosios inevitably draws the attention of aasimar, tieflings, and other creatures that have pledged their might to celstials or fiends, all of whom would be eager to strike down these abominations if they had the chance.
When traveling, arkosios prefer large hooded cloaks, closed helms, and other gear that allows them to conceal their identities and notable wings. They nevertheless have no compunction about killing those that bring a threat to them. The secrecy they desire is often requires the death of those that learn their true nature..
Conflicted Heritage
Despite its origin, an arkosios is mortal and possesses free will. Most arkosios resent their heritage, but some grow to see their abilities as a gift. As the offspring of both evil and good creatures, these beings tend to fall on neither side. Instead, they tend to be more neutral and care only for themselves and those they have given their love and protection to.
