Male bontanwanger description
Standing at usually 4 and a half feet tall. The male bontanwanger typically has a soft sand colour but some with genetic mutations can be born white and black. The bontanwanger has a Cap on the top of their heads called a feeding bulb. This cap is black in colour and serves to soak up rain water for photosynthesis. If a bontanwanger goes long enough without access to water, they will burrow under ground with only their feeding bulbs exposed. They then enter a hibernation like state and can wait up to 9 years for water. The average life expectancy of a male bontanwanger is 80 years with some living as old as 140. The eyes of a bontanwanger are nothing more than black slits just bellow their feeding bulb.
Female bontanwanger description
Male and Female bontanwanger share many features but these are the main differences. Female bontanwanger are far larger than males. Typically reaching heights of 7 feet. Female bontanwanger also have green skin, and their feeding bulb is taller as well. Lastly female bontanwanger can live much much longer. Some reaching as old as 540
The life cycle of a bontanwanger
Male and female bontanwanger will roam the desert sometimes for years before finding each other. When both agree to reproduce the male bontanwanger will climb up the female before wrapping around her and biting into her flesh. Delivering nutrients and reproductive cells to the female. In doing such the male begins to fuse into the female before dying. The female can choose to find multiple other males to reproduce with. Usually stopping when the amount of males hanging off of her starts to get too heavy. She will then burrow underground. And deploy her seed pods. She then dies and her feeding bulb sprouts desert flowers. The seed pods develop underground. The males come to the surface immediately after birth to utilize their photosynthesis and look for water. Female bontanwangers continue to develop further until they reach full maturity and become fertile. Usually taking between 20 and 35 years.
