Homebrew Constellian Species Details

Constellains are children of the moon and the sun, residing among the stars yet not entirely celestial themselves. They cannot feel hunger or pain, and violence is merely a concept among them. However, when a shooting star flies across the sky, there is a slim chance that it will shatter an entry into the mortal plane. This star will contain a Constellian, stranded and weakened from their entry. Over time, the Constellian will become somewhat mortal; this means that they will feel ravenous hunger, fiery pain, and bitter emotion. Constellians who have crashed will most likely make their landing place a haven for themself, as they will always be connected to that site.

Atmospherical Build

Renowned for their starry features and slender physique, a Constellian's body is covered with a thin purple mist that is speckled with smatterings of white light. They are slightly taller than humans, ranging from slightly over six feet to just under eight feet. Males usually have a stronger, bulkier build and darker skin, while females have more slender, lighter qualities. All of them turn transparent in light levels stronger than the moon's rays.

Constellians' hair is always some shade of white or gray, depending on the age. The younger the Constellian, the brighter the hair. Constellians' eyes are also pure white, glowing in the dark with burning fire. They favor lighter clothing if any, and they enjoy cooler colors with gold accents when it comes to attire.

Ageless Aging

Constellians can live well over 800 years, but they become increasingly mortal every day. They will feel more pain and emotion the longer they live, meaning that most of them choose death before they die of natural causes. Constellians can still be slaughtered, but it is very difficult to kill the younger ones due to their permanence. When Constellians do happen to die, their body explodes with a fiery intensity as their essence ascends back to the heavens, in which they are reborn. Due to this system, Constellians can live infinitely, but they only regain their memories of past lives when they travel back to the mortal plane.

Constellians are priceless allies in the face of danger, but they are deeply averse to fighting. Due to their heavenly origin, Constellians have not experienced much combat, and they have a chance to be stunned when hit. They tend to flee when violence arises or help from the sidelines, and they usually stay defensive instead of offensive.

Creative Nonmigrants

Most Constellians stay where their star collided and build their home near the area. They farm vegetables and gather wild foods, but Constellians rarely eat meat due to their repulsion at killing other creatures. They are talented craftspeople and storytellers, tending to be more creative than logical. Their contact with the outside world can be limited, but some do enjoy going into the civilizations that they used to study in the heavens.

Curious Nature

Constellians take up adventuring out of curiosity. Since they become increasingly mortal, their intrigue of the world will eventually overwhelm them and force them away from their home. They strongly dislike the atrocities of other societies, so they find careers that will keep them on the edges of civilization. Constellians are quite religious as well, making them excellent missionaries or clerics.

CAUTIOUS BUT PROTECTIVE

Although they can be timid, Constellians are generally protective towards those who they care for. They don't trust easy due to their studies of mortals, but befriending one is worth the trouble.

Constellian Names

Constellians are considered children by their peers until they travel to the mortal plane, and they are then considered adults and outcasts.

Constellians choose a new name when they land inside of the mortal plane since their original names are unspeakable. Each Constellian’s mortal name is a unique creation, though it always seems to link back to the moon or stars. The name is usually based on which race they are around the most since that is how they experience mortal life.
