Homebrew Accithera Species Details
The accithera guard the desolate western most peaks of the Gangtor Mountains of northern Luphorn, a heavily forested portion of the range where the snowfall is less oppressive.
Prides of these nomadic, griffon-like humanoids rarely interact with other peoples, having all they need in their rocky homeland, high above the lush woodlands.
Still, some accitheran wonder what lies beyond the Gangtor cliffs and sprawling forests and seek to test themselves in a wider world.
Aloof and Fierce
Accithera tend to be tall compared to humans and move with a boldness that suggests their physical might. Leonin fur covers their lower bodies in, and thick feathers cover their backs and heads in shades of brown, gold, white, black and grey. While their hands prove as nimble as those of other humanoids, accitherans have a set of wicked aquiline talons and a sharply curved raptors beak, which they use to hunt prey. Large feathered wings sprout from their backs allowing them to soar through the sky. This, along with their ability to produce will-shattering shrieks, gives most accithera an air that readily shifts between regal and fearsome. Accithera often act with confidence, which can come off as imperiousness. While this can reassure their allies, it can also suggest defiance in the face of what they perceive as imposed authority or unworthy experts.
Pride and Self-Reliance
While it is allowed within the pride, few accithera devote themselves to the service of the gods. Centuries ago, the Accithera were a pride of leonin that worshiped a now forgotten god of the hunt, but after following their god into a losing battle with the Beastlord, Malar, many of their pride turned away from the gods with their gods death. Soon after their deities death, the Gods declared a ceasefire and the bruised and battered pride made its way south through Luphorn to return to their homes. For reasons unknown, Malar returned claiming to "bless" the worthy warriors his forces could not destroy and forced a transformation upon them, granting them sharper talons to hunt with and wings to dominate the skies. These changes were hard on most of the pride causing the majority to flee, but some of them relished their newfound abilities and gave praise to him. For those that fled, Malar is despised and reviled while for those that chose to follow him, he is their primary deity.
Accithera rely on themselves and their prides. A pride is bound together by the experience of a shared challenge and, in particular, the sacred act of the hunt.
Accithera Names
Due to their ancestory, accithera tend to choose traditional leonin names. Along with their personal names, accitherans identify themselves by their pride. A member of the Windclaw pride with the personal name of Oriz, for example, would likely style himself as Oriz of the Windclaw.

Size
Accithera are typically over 6 feet tall, with some standing over 7 feet. Your size is Medium.
Here’s how to determine your height and weight randomly, starting with rolling a size modifier:
Size modifier = 2d10
Height = 5 feet + 6 inches + your size modifier in inches
Weight in pounds = 180 + (2d6 × your size modifier)
Speed
Your base walking speed is 35 feet and you have a flying speed equal to your walking speed (whilst you are not wearing heavy armor).
Darkvision
You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can’t discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.

Raptors Cry
As a bonus action, you can let out an especially piercing shriek. One creature of your choice within 20 feet of you that can hear you must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw or become frightened of you until the start of your next turn. The DC of the save equals 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Constitution modifier. While frightened of you in this way, you can role 1d4 and add it to attack rolls against the creature. Once you use this trait, you can’t use it again until you finish a short or long rest.
Languages
