Homebrew Dhampir Species Details
Background
Dhampir is a creature that is the result of either a union between a vampire and another race or they can be bitten during their life. Dhampirs are very shapely and comely. Their beauty is often compared to that of royalty. Dhampir powers are lower than those of Vampires and they don't have the usual weaknesses.
Physical Description
While they may resemble their former racial heritage, many Dhampirs have pale skin and dark hair. If a Vampiric-esque change occurs at birth, they resemble stillborns - they do have a very faint heartbeat. Most possess sharpened teeth or claws as a reminder of their undead heritage.
Their looks are of their parent race, though they are described as being more graceful in appearance which has been recorded across racial tomes. Dhampir's appear tall and sturdy while also having graceful features and a slender appearance that belies their unnatural strength.
They are not as powerful as vampires but are instead granted the gift of not needing to feed on others.
History
The Dhampir are usually the children of a tragic romance or something much more sinister. This causes them to search for their reason for being created or in some cases hunt their immortal parent for answers, even joining them in the search for this if such collaboration will benefit them.
Society
Dhampirs normally live a solitary lifestyle and are feared, shunned or even hunted by other races. Due to this, a great number of Dhampirs reject their Vampiric heritage. However, their desire for information regarding their parent(s), some can show either a strong dislike or likeness to True Vampires. Any Dhampir who happens across another Dhampir's path will treat them with indifference, like any stranger, but they will band together if threatened with annihilation.
The Dhampir are famed for their ability to not only hunt Vampires but also other mythical beings. Most are driven and stubborn, yet also strangely charismatic. Some Dhampirs are willing to help and protect their undead relatives and be their guard. This is presumably because of their ability to move in the sun which makes them excellent followers of Vampires.
Dhampir Names
Dhampirs tend to use naming conventions dictated by their former race. If they are born a Dhampir, then the name conventions dictated by their parent(s) race will be utilised.
