Homebrew Trask Species Details

The Trasks are a species that's lived underground for centuries. Isolated on their tundra planet, completely underground, Trasks have adapted to suit the dark. Members of the nobility keep their nails sharp to honour their ancestors, while the working class pays homage by wearing or keeping religious symbols with them. Trasks have skin tones in the same varying shades as humans do, but because of being underground for so long, their hair has gone completely white. For the same reason, they have developed slightly pointed ears for better hearing, and their eyes have also become very sensitive to sunlight, so they wear contact lenses when travelling aboveground.
They also wear goggles over these contacts regardless, since many Trasks work as miners, tunnellers, mechanics, metalsmiths, or welders. The contacts, to them, are a backup to their goggles. Even upper-class Trasks, who work as scribes and religious leaders, have their own goggles.

Many Traskian adventurers are Artificers, Clerics, or Paladins. Their smaller size doesn't stop them, either, as many of them are quite strong and courageous.

Trask Traits

The Trasks, having lived underground for so long, have learned to adapt to the cold, wet caverns of the tundra.

Ability Score Increase

Your Constitution and Intelligence scores increase by 2.

Age

Trasks mature at the same rate as humans, but are considered adults at 30. Most Trask live until the age of at least 150 years old, but some of the oldest live for up to 200.

Speed

Your base walking speed is 30 feet.

Darkvision

Accustomed to life underground, you have superior vision in dark and dim conditions. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can’t discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.

Tremorsense

Due to living underground for so long, Trasks have developed stubbier feet and better hearing to gain better balance and perception in the dark.
Trasks have 60 feet of tremorsense, which can be used anywhere. This tremorsense is not passive, though, and must be intentionally used by the Trask to work.

Size

Trasks are on the smaller side, varying between being 4"-5"5 tall. The tallest Trask ever was recorded to be only 5"7!

Trask's Talent

A Trask has a normal digging/burrowing speed of 30 feet, but as an action, can double this speed for a turn. This talent can be used once per long rest.

A Trask's Values

You gain proficiency in Insight and Survival, but due to your less than fearsome appearance, you have a -4 in Intimidation, permanently.

Lock

Because of their stubby feet and excellent balance, Trasks can lock their legs in a position that helps them withstand being toppled. As a reaction, you may lock yourself in place to withstand being knocked prone, knocked away by any spell, or grappled. On your next turn, while you are still allowed to try and make attacks, you cannot move. You may use this once per long rest.

Languages

You can speak, read, and write Common and Trask.
