Homebrew Abwun Awaa Species Details

Description:  A dark-skinned, hairless race, with a long pointed snout and large upright pointed ears. They are typically between 5ft and 6ft tall with anywhere between the typical human eye colors, yellow, red, and purple, albeit, in very rare cases. they have a digitigrade leg structure. They can live up to 120 years however most are known to die before then as growing old and dying of natural causes, a right typically reserved for only the high priest.

Personalities: Warlike the Abwun Awaa are mostly lawful evil however like all races there is some wiggle room between each one. they enjoy the thrill of battle and the ritualistic savaging and eating of those they kill as a tribute to their god. they are fiercely loyal to their tribes and to the elders in their tribe in particular.

Social structure: The Abwun Awaa live in small nomadic tribes of three or four families. A family will typically consist of one male and one female and about 3 pups who will move away around the age of 10 to fend for themselves and make their tribe. whenever a member of a tribe passes on they will lay the body in a bed of stones in the center of the camp and as they move on whenever a new tribe passes they will stack stones on top of the body and so on and so forth until the body is covered in a cairn. although fiercely loyal when found in cities are often there as parts of caravans as either guards or just travelers using the protection of the caravan for safety between tribes. they also are known to be in a rivalry with the Leonin and Gnoll people and as such brutal territorial disputes often occur at spots where their borders meet.

Psychopompic natures: The Abwun Awaa have been known to those in the deserts of Uadica as harbingers of the dead. They follow their god of the dead and funerals, Ktheus, and as a reward, some of his power is said to be placed inside each Abwun Awaa giving them unnatural control over the dead. once per year the oldest among each tribe moves towards the great graveyard deep in the desert and elects a new high priest who will spend the rest of their life traveling from tribe to tribe to handle the dead, during this ritual all the dead they collect are raised as undead and are eventually lead back to the graveyard where the high priest buries the dead before dying themselves and thus the cycle starts again.

Names: the Abwun Awaa don't have boys or girls' names but are instead named by what role the parents presume the child will take in their tribes and it is not uncommon for names to change, some of the most common are: Asim, Sadiki, Ur, Akila, Khepri, Set, and Omri. however, if they find themselves in a place where other languages are more prevalent,t they will use a name in the most common language to fit in better with those around them.
