You create a single magical dart and use it to attack at a creature/target you can see, making a ranged spell attack. If it hits, it deals 1d4 damage type of your choice (see below). Each damage type also has a different effect on the target.
Cold (white): The target’s speed reduced by 10 feet until the start of your next turn.
Fire (red): The fire ignites any flammable object hit by it that isn't being worn or carried.
Lightning (blue): The target can't take reactions until the start of its next turn.
Necrotic (purple): The target is unable to regain hit points until the start of your next turn.
Radiant (gold): Before the end of your next turn, the next attack roll made on the target has advantage.
Force (silver): The target is pushed 10 feet away from you in a straight line.
Psychic (green): The target has disadvantage on its next attack roll before the end of its next turn.
Leveling: The spell creates additional darts as you level. At 5th, it makes two darts; at 11th, it makes three; and at 17th, it makes four. The darts can be directed at the same target or different ones. Each dart gets its own attack roll and can be of a different damage type if you desire.

Posted Dec 11, 2018I tried to create a cantrip that's useful but not overpowering combining the concept of Eldridge Blast (multiple attacks) with the other cantrips or spells that deal with different damage types and have specific effects. For example, shocking grasp deals lightning damage and prevents reactions as well as gains advantage if target wears metal armor. The damage in this cantrip is lessened since it is range and I strictly limited to one effect (no advantage in this case). I purposely made the range only 60 feet for limit as well as made the damage d4 knowing that some creatures may have vulnerabilities to damage type. This cantrip can still be useful even at higher levels as a single target can be targeted by 4 different damage types and suffer all 4 effects if hit by them. So even it the max damage is 4d4 instead of 4d6, 4d8 or 4d10, the different effects make up for the less damage and can be a boon to other party members.
I perceive this spell to belong more to an arcane caster but can also see an Eldritch Knight using it, an Arcane Trickster and a Bard from the college of Lore (not just any bard as they don't have most such elemental spells). I think this is also not such a bad spell for a Warlock to have even though Eldridge Blast would be far superior in my view especially with Eldritch Invocations that augment the cantrip.

Posted Sep 26, 2019I plan on making a fizzlewix themed variant of this spell (here's some examples of what I mean) and it really helps out that you explained your reasoning on why you made the decisions that you did. I wished that other creators did this, which I'm guilty of not doing enough personally.
edit: In case you're interested, this is the variant I came up with with Fizzlewix's Chromatic Dart.
