You create a magical weapon that lasts for the duration or until you dispel the weapon. When you cast the spell, you can make a melee spell attack against a creature within range. On a hit, the target takes bludgeoning, slashing, or piercing damage (specific to the type of weapon) equal to 3d8 + your spellcasting ability modifier.
As a bonus action on your turn, you can also choose to prematurely cancel this spell, causing the weapon to disappear into a sparkly mist.
The weapon can take whatever form you choose. If it requires a sheath, one will be provided that will instantly attach itself to a belt loop or otherwise. The appearance at first will be brightly colored and slightly transparent as well as rune-covered, but another bonus action in one of the following turns (immediately if out of combat) can be taken to morph the weapon into one of regular appearance. When the weapon appears mundane, it will not cause alarm nor will it be considered contraband for the duration that it exists.
At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 3rd level or higher, the damage increases by 1d8 for every two slot levels above 2nd.
