As you point your finger at an enemy creature the ground below spews forth a horde of angry rats which bite, scratch, gnaw and hold on to the target. You can only use this spell if the target is standing on solid ground. The target must succeed on a Strength saving throw or be affected by this spell for the duration.
Regardless of whether the save succeeds or not the target takes 2d6 slashing damage.
An affected target is restrained, and it can't use reactions. On its turn, it can make attacks against the rat horde. The rats have an AC of 13, a collective HP of 13+2d4 and they regain 2d4 of lost HP on the end of the target's round as more rats appear and replace the dead ones. If a creature other than the target attacks the rat-swarm any missed attack deals full damage to the target affected by Vermintide.
If the target successfully casts thunderwave or any kind of teleportation, this spell ends.
At the end of its turn the affected creature takes an additional 2d6 slashing damage as long as the spell is active.
A creature affected by this spell makes another Strength saving throw at the end of each of its turns. On a successful save, the effect ends for it.
At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using higher levels the damage increases by 1d6 and the rats gain an additional 1d4 HP and 2d4 regeneration for each level higher than 3
