You cover the weapon used in the spell's casting with a layer of howling whirlwind. The wielder can either use their enchanted blade to strike an enemy within 5 feet of them for the damage of their weapon + 2d6 slashing damage or the wielder can slash their blade in the direction of an enemy within 30 feet to launch a devastating gust of wind dealing 3d6 slashing damage. If cast at higher levels damage is increased by +1d4 for melee attack or +1d6 for ranged attack.
