If the attack is directed at a creature who is surprised, the spell instead deals 5d8 bludgeoning damage on a hit. Additionally, on a hit, you learn the target's current mood, as well as their surface thoughts. If the target made a statement the round before the spell was cast, the caster has advantage on insight checks to determine the truth of the statement.
