The caster utters an attempted string of insults at a creature within range; the intent of which is not to perform an effective vicious mockery, but rather to speak the first insult that comes to mind in the hopes of sounding awesome. In reality the target suffers no magical damage at all, instead suffering mental damage after hearing such an atrocious statement spoken so boldly by an imbecile.
The target must succeed either on a Wisdom or Intelligence saving throw (decided by the target) in an attempt to process the stupidity they just heard. On a fail, targets with an Intelligence score of 10 or higher suffer psychic damage equal to the caster’s spell-cast modifier and have disadvantage on the next attack roll it makes before the end of its next turn.
Targets with either a Wisdom or Intelligence score of 14 or higher suffer damage equal to double the caster’s spellcast modifier on a fail, being unable to cope with the excessive cringe. Targets with an intelligence score of 7 or lower take no damage, but still roll on disadvantage for their next attack roll (being utterly shaken by the insult).
