You summon a small swarm of construct insects that appear in unoccupied space that you can see within range. Choose one of the following options for what appears:
- Swarm of flies AC 12 1d8 bludgeon damage
- Swarm of ants AC 12 1d8 piercing damage
- Swarm of cockroaches AC 12 1d8 force damage (Dexterity save to avoid being knocked prone)
- Swarm of spiders AC 12 1d8 poison damage (Constitution save to avoid being poisoned)
The construct swarm act as a Swarm of Insects with a HP 22, and it crumbles to metal dust when it drops to 0 hit points or when the spell ends. If concentration is lost to control the insects they stop running or fall to the ground (if they fly). They can be picked up and used again for later.
The constructed creatures are friendly to you and your companions. The insects act as if they are a weapon wielded by the spell caster. They obey any verbal commands that you issue to them (no action required by you). If you don't issue any commands to them, they defend themselves from hostile creatures, but otherwise take no actions.
At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using certain higher-level spell slots, you choose one of the summoning options above, and more creatures appear: twice as many with a 5th-level slot causing 2d8 damage, three times as many with a 7th-level slot causing 3d8 damage, and four times as many with a 9th-level slot causing 4d8 damage.
* - (A bit of copper and a body part of the insect construct)
