This spell uses the Corruption rules, created by Matthew Mercer, "Corruption Rules" on DMG.
When you cast this spell, the target makes a Wisdom Saving throw. On a failure, the target gains 1d4 Corruption points, on a success this spell has no effect. The target has disadvantage on the saving throw if both the caster and the target are in an area already affected by corruption.
Corruption Points : Level
1-2 : Mild Corruption
3-8 : Moderate Corruption
9-11 : Severe Corruption
12 : Dead/Insane
Whenever you reach a new level of corruption, roll a d8 and consult the table in the Corruption Rules for the effect. Corruption points are cumulative and can only be removed in specific ways.
- Use Lesser Restoration to cure 1 Corruption Point
- Use Greater Restoration to cure 1d4 Corruption Points
- Every week of rest away from the source of the Corruption heals 1 Corruption Point.
An effect fades once the character "falls out of" that tier, i.e. an effect received at the Moderate Corruption Level disappears once the character falls to 2 Corruption Points.
If a character ever reaches 12 or more points, the DM is free to determine weather that character dies, goes insane (becomes an NPC) or something similar.
Alignment effects
If the target is good aligned:
The target gains advantage on their save if they are good aligned (DM has the discretion to deny this advantage if the character hasn't "been playing good" i.e. if they've only written down Good, but then been playing Evil/Neutral).
If the target is evil aligned
The taget gains disadvantage on their save if they are evil aligned (DM has the discretion to deny this disadvantage if the character hasn't "been playing evil" i.e. if they've only written down Evil, but then been playing Good/Neutral).
At Higher Levels. For every level above 7:th, add one point of Corruption, i.e. if cast at 8:th level it deals 1d4 + 1 Corruption Points and at 9:th level it inflicts 1d4 + 2 Corruption Points.
This spell was created together with Jayson Jolin.
