You draw runes on a source and gain the ability to read and understand the flow of mana. You immediately learn whether the mana belongs to a good source or an evil source. You will also learn whether you have analyzed mana from the same creature before and when the last time you analyzed the mana was. You may only use the mana from a single source for the material component of this spell. The information in mingled mana is too muddied to be of use.
At Higher Levels: You may gain additional information from the mana you analyze by channeling more energy into the spell. The additional information you can gain is listed below. You gain all of the information provided by lower levels of the spell as well as the information provided by the spell level you chose.
2nd - You know the creature who exerted the mana's type(s). (Monstrosity, Undead, Humanoid, etc.)
3rd - You know the approximate location of the creature if the creature is within 120 feet of you.
4th - You know the creature's name (if applicable. Creatures with secret names such as Devils cannot have their secret name revealed with this spell.), age, and alignment.
5th - An imagery of the mana's source reveals itself to you. If the creature is considered to have more mana than you, the imagery is slightly blurry.
6th - You know whether the creature is on the same plane of existence as you at the time the spell is cast.
7th - You know the exact location of the creature if the creature is within 1000 feet from you. If the creature is further away than 1000 feet from you, you know an approximation of their location.
8th - You form a connection with the mana's source allowing you to predict any spells the creature is about to use giving you an advantage over saving throws against the spells the creature cast.
9th - Your understanding of the mana has gained you a temporary immunity of up to 10 mins from any spell made against you using this mana.
