The Arcane Limb:
Prerequisite requirement: ability to cast spells.
Conjuration cantrip:
Conjures a spectral arcane limb rooted to the remaining flesh of a missing appendage. The limb is etherial in nature and has no mass or weight but is visible to the naked eye. It emits a dim glow in the color of the caster’s choosing.
Objects and creatures of a non-magical nature will pass through the limb as if it is thin air. The limb is immune to all non-magical forms of damage but will not prevent a damaging blow from striking the caster.
Arcane limbs are capable of lifting small objects such as a quill or a coin purse but can not support a character’s full weight for more than a few seconds; the more force involved the shorter the duration. Tasks such as grasping a ledge or walking can be accomplished, but not without some risk. For example a character walking with an arcane limb can bare the weight long enough to take the stride; but if they were to stand using only the arcane limb it would fail quickly. Extended walking or carrying a moderate load requires the spell to be used with concentration.
Arcane limbs can be used the same as a flesh limb to cast spells utilizing 2 hands.
Arcane limbs are capable of passing through cloth-like clothing or small openings such as the keyhole of a lockbox.
If the caster tries to use an arcane limb to feel an object they cannot see, they do not feel it like a touch, but as an awareness of the properties of the object: Metal, liquid, solid, soft etc... but not details like texture or engravings.
The Arcane Limb remains active until the caster dismisses it by using the cantrip again, or the spell fails from over exertion.
Enhanced Spell:
Focused Arcane Limb:
Concentration Spell
While an arcane limb is summoned the caster may concentrate to imbue the arcane limb with one of the special abilities listed below.
Ability to carry/bear more weight, up to 2x what the caster’s flesh limb would be capable of.
Ability to temporarily make small held objects etherial such as pickpocketing a coin purse through clothing or removing a necklace from a locked box.
