You create an illusion of an event in an area up to a 30 foot cube. Using a thought strand created by encode thoughts, you replay the events of a memory up to an hour long allowing all to see it as the creature remembers it. The illusion will remain centered on the creature whose memory it is. Depending on how focused the creature was on various objects or creatures, they will appear more or less blurred in the illusion.
The illusion includes audible, visual, tactile, and olfactory elements, so it is possible to interact with the illusion, but navigating through the illusion is difficult. All terrain within the illusion is considered difficult terrain. Any piece of the illusory terrain (such as a bag or book) that is removed from the spell's area disappears immediately and reappears in their proper position according to the memory.
If the memory has been tampered with, as by modify memory, it may be possible to detect the interference. If a creature viewing the illusion makes a successful Intelligence (Insight) check against the spell save DC of the creature who tampered with the memory, they become aware that elements of the memory do not fit correctly and a false memory has been planted.
Creatures with truesight can see through the illusion to the true form of the surroundings as can a creature that uses its action to examine the illusion with a successful Intelligence (Investigation) check against your spell save DC; however, all other elements of the illusion remain, so while the creature is aware of the illusion's presence, the creature can still physically interact with the illusion.
