Vow of Nonviolence

You stare at the target, causing it to be unnerved by the potential backlash of its own actions.

When you cast this spell, choose a single creature that you can see and that can see you, and you each feel compelled to undergo a Vow of Nonviolence. Any time an affected creature other than yourself, would perform an Act of Violence, it must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw or else it fails to act in that manner. 

If you perform an act of violence (except against Fiends or Undead) while this spell is active, it ends and you suffer 2d6 points of psychic damage that ignores any innate resistances or immunities you may have.

Due to their inherently evil nature, Fiends and Undead have Advantage on their saving throws against this spell. A creature with an Intelligence of 3 or lower cannot be targeted by this spell.

In order to cast this spell, the caster must not have performed any acts of violence (such acts are allowed against Fiends and Undead) within the last week.

Acts of Violence:

Acts of Violence include, but are not limited to:

• making an attack
• purposefully casting a spell that negatively affects another
• purposefully dealing damage to another creature by any means
• purposefully causing or helping to cause harm, physical suffering, or mental suffering to another
• purposefully putting another creature in harms way

At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 3rd level or higher, you can target one additional creature for each slot level above 2nd. The creatures must be able to see you and you must be able to see them. The damage you take from breaking your own Vow of Nonviolence increases by 2d6 for each slot level above 2nd.
