You ward your life force from attackers, connecting your fate to theirs by a spectral ruby string. When you cast this spell, choose up to two creatures you can see within 60 ft. Each creature must make a Constitution saving throw. On a successful save, a target is not affected. On a failed save their heart is entangled by the spectral string for the duration. While connected to you in this way, any damage a target deals to you, whether from attacks, spells, magical effects they create, or innate abilities, is negated for you and you instead take no damage. That target then takes necrotic damage equal to the damage you would have taken before calculating any resistances, or other diminishing effects. This damage cannot be reduced in any way.
This spell has no effect on undead or constructs.
At Higher Levels: When you cast this spell using a slot of 6th level or higher, you can choose to target one additional creature for each slot above 5th.
