Damage/Effect
You tell an epic tale of triumph, sorrow, and love. When you tell the tale, you choose one of the following effects which you can activate at any time within the spells duration:
- A Fearsome Foe. You can use a bonus action to cause a non-humanoid monster of your choosing that is of CR 3 or less to appear in an unoccupied space within 90 feet of you and spends each of its turns attacking a creature of your choice. If its target is killed or is more than 120 feet away from it, the monster acts as it normally would.
- A Helpful Ally. You can use a bonus action to cause humanoid that is of a race of your choosing to appear in an unoccupied space within 90 feet of you during combat. The humanoid has the stats of either a bard, berserker, druid, or priest (your choice) and is considered your ally. It acts as you and your allies direct it (no action required), but it will not do anything harmful to itself and defends itself if not issued any orders. When combat ends, it runs off to help others in need.
- A Brush with Death. You can use a reaction to choose a creature within 90 feet of you that would normally die from damage or an effect. That creature instead survives with 1 hit point and can't have its hit points reduced below 1 until the start of its next turn.
- A Sudden Betrayal. You can use a reaction to cause a hostile creature that is about to attack you or one of your allies to cause another hostile creature of your choice within 90 feet of you to make either a melee or ranged attack against it. The attack has advantage, and if both of those creatures are allies with each other, the attack deals critical damage on a hit. Also, when the attack hits the betrayed creature, its attack is interrupted and it can't take actions or reactions until the start of its next turn. The betraying creature must have 30 or less hit points remaining or else the spell fails. After the betraying creature attacks, the DM determines what it would normally do (it may continue to attack the one it betrayed or flee).
Once you activate the chosen effect, the spell then ends.
