You attempt to divine an event from a creature’s past. When you cast this spell, you name an event that you believe the creature to have witnessed first-hand. The target must make a Wisdom saving throw. On a success, the target is unaffected, cannot be targeted by the spell for the next 24 hours and the material component is not consumed. If the targeted creature is dead, no saving throw is necessary. This spell has no effect on constructs or undead.

On a failed save by your target, you experience ten consecutive minutes of the creature’s memory that most thoroughly depicts the event described. If a creature experienced an event more than once or the spoken event could describe more than one occurrence in that creature’s life, you experience the most recent applicable ten minutes. While experiencing the memory, you are unable to perceive anything through your regular senses, although you are aware of any save you are forced to make to maintain concentration on this spell.

While in the memory, you cannot gather information that the witness did not themselves perceive first-hand. You may however comprehend information that they did not, such as information conveyed in a language understood by yourself but not the witness or specific physical details about something they looked at but did not study closely. After the ten minutes is concluded, or the spell otherwise ends, the material component is consumed.

* - (A body part of the creature targeted, such as a lock or hair, a finger nail, which the spell consumes)
