The wood of a quarterstaff you are holding is imbued with arcane power. You can use the staff as an arcane focus, the weapon becomes magical if it weren’t before. To make use of the imbued staff, you need to attune with it.

When you imbue the staff, you can choose one of the following options and use them while attuned:

-You can extend the duration of your mage armor to one day, provided you can cast it. 

-You can communicate telepathically and use the senses of your familiar pet (if you have one) up to 500 feet from it. Also you can expend a spell slot and change the type of familiar from the list as a bonus action, without the need of components.

-You can choose to pass one intelligence ability check you failed, once done, you can’t do it again until the next dawn.

-You can store a spell of first level into the staff, like performed by ring of spell storing.

-You can change the value of a die on a damage roll for the mean value of the die up to a number of dice equal to your proficiency bonus. Once done you can’t do it again until you finish a long or short rest

-You can cast blade ward as a bonus action once per short rest.

The spell will last until dispelled or casted in other quarterstaff or since the quarterstaff is not attuned to you Anymore.
