You protect yourself or one target from a time-freezing effect. If it is caused by a Common, Uncommon, or Rare magic item or a spell or second level or lower, it automatically fails on the target. For a third level or higher spell, or Rare or rarer magic item, make a Arcana check using your spellcasting ability score as the base ability. The DC is equal to 20 + the spell level, or the level shown on the table if a magic item, minus the level this spell is cast at. On a failure, the target is still effected. On a success, it is immune to the specific effect from any source until the magic is dispelled.

At higher levels. When you cast this spell with a slot of fifth level or higher, an effect of a lower spell level than temporal protection is cast at automatically fails. Consult the following table to determine the minimum rarity of the magic item for a check to be necessary - and to help determine the difficulty of the check.
