An incorporeal magical orb providing bright light in a 20-foot radius and dim light for an additional 20 feet forms on an object you touch or at a point in space within 5 feet. The sphere is 2 inches in diameter, emits no heat, and doesn't require oxygen or fuel.
If you chose an object you are holding or one that isn't being worn or carried, the light shines from and moves with the object. The object can be no larger than 10 feet in any dimension.
Completely covering the object with something opaque blocks the light, but it will not be extinguished except by Dispel Magic or similar means. Magical Darkness will obscure the light but not extinguish it. It can be dismissed by the caster at any time as long as they can see it.
At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 3rd level or higher, the area of bright and dim light each increase by 5 feet for every spell level above 2nd.
