You choose a creature or object within range. The target must succeed on an Intelligence saving throw against your spell save DC (objects automatically fail) or be magically set on fire for 1 minute.
An object set on fire by this spell burns for a minute unless the fire is extinguished. An object that burns for the entire minute duration is destroyed, unless it is magical. While on fire, any creature that touches it takes 1d4 fire damage. The fire can be extinguished by being smothered or being doused by a gallon of water.
A creature set on fire takes 1d4 fire damage at the start of it's turn. While on fire, the creature has disadvantage on attack rolls and it's movement speed is reduced by half. Additionally, an attacker that hits the creature on fire with a melee attack takes 1d4 fire damage, and creatures hit by a melee attack from the creature on fire must succeed on a Dexterity saving throw equal to the original saving throw of the spell, or be set on fire as if the Ablaze spell was cast on them. A creature that is resistant or immune to fire damage is still set on fire, but doesn't have disadvantage or reduced speed.
A creature that is on fire can put out the fire by dropping prone and using half their movement speed to roll around on the same spot. Alternatively, they can be smothered for half a minute (and be subjected to the choking rules) or be doused by a gallon of water.
If upcasted, the damage increases by 1d4 per level past 2nd.
