You create a wall of static energy in the air at a point you can see within range. You can make the wall up to 30 feet long, 10 feet high, and 1 foot thick, or you can make a ringed wall up to 20 feet in diameter, 20 feet high, and 1 foot thick. Alternatively, you can shape a flat wall of static made up of ten 10-foot-by-10-foot panels. Each panel must be contiguous with another panel. The wall flickers with bursts of sparks, and vanishes when the spell ends. 

When the wall appears, each creature within its area must make a Dexterity saving throw. On a failed save, a creature takes 2d8 lightning damage and is restrained until their next turn. On a successful save, the target takes half as much damage but isn’t restrained. That section of the wall is now discharged and cannot harm anyone else.

As a bonus action, you can cause one 10 by 10 foot section of the wall to be discharged. Any creature within 10 feet must make a Dexterity saving throw or take 1d8 lightning damage, taking half as much damage on a successful save. Alternatively, you can use a bonus action to move a 10 by 10 foot section of the wall, 10 feet in any direction.

At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 4th level or higher, the damage increases by 1d8 for each slot above 3rd.
