A crimson aura extends from you, assaulting and pulling away the life essence of everything it can reach and using it to bolster your vitality. Each creature in a 5-foot radius sphere originating from you must make a Constitution saving throw. A creature can willingly choose to fail this saving throw. On a failed save, a creature takes 2d6 necrotic damage. You gain a number of temporary hit points equal to 3 times the number of creatures that failed this saving throw. On a success, the creature takes no damage.
At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 2nd level or higher, the area radius increases by 5 feet for each slot level above 1st.
