You throw a magically imbued dart at a target within range. Make a ranged spell attack using a dart against the target. On a hit, the target takes the normal damage from the dart. If the target is not a construct, elemental, or undead creature, it also begins to bleed from the wound, and continues to do so until the spell ends. Plant creatures bleed a viscose sap or similar fluid.
The bleeding creature leaves behind a trail of blood which does not coagulate so long as the target creature is alive. Wisdom (Survival) checks made to track the creature are made with advantage. At the end of each minute while the spell lasts, the target can make a Constitution saving throw. On a failure, the target suffers a 1d4 reduction to their hit point maximum. This reduction lasts until the target completes a long rest. If the target passes the saving throw 3 times, the spell immediately ends and the bleeding stops. These successes do not need to be consecutive.
If the reduction should reduce the target to 0 maximum hit points, it dies.
At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 2nd level or higher, the hit point reduction suffered by the target on a failed saving throw increases by 1d4 for each spell slot level above 1st.
